As a certified autumn girlie, there is nothing I love more than spending an October weekend wandering around a pumpkin patch, drinking autumnal drinks, and finding the perfect pumpkin. Whilst it’s a relatively new trend in the UK, it’s one I wholeheartedly love because it really embraces the season, and is a perfect microadventure for the whole family.
Living in Cumbria means there are plenty of options for pumpkin picking, with many farms transforming for the season.
Whether you choose to carve your pumpkin, use it to do some seasonal baking, or you’re going for the pure joy of it, this is your ultimate guide to where to go pumpkin picking in Cumbria…

Reds Pumpkin Patch, Langwathby
Back for its 5th year, The Red Shepherdess pumpkin patch is perfect for if you just want that pumpkin picking experience. It’s free to enter, you don’t need to book, and you just pay for the pumpkins you choose. There are other activities you can pay for whilst you’re there (take cash as there’s no signal for card payments!), but what I love most is it’s dog friendly!! So you can bet I’m going there with my little pup to pick our pumpkins together.

Another great option for pure pumpkin picking is The Milk Hit. It’s free entry (and there are free tractor rides as well!) and you just pay for your pumpkins. You can purchase milk, milkshakes, hot drinks, cakes whilst there, and the pumpkins are all grown on site.
