In the words of Richard Gilmore, I am an Autumn. And what I love most about this month is it feels like collectively we all get the memo on living seasonally. We embrace all there is to love about the season; the cosiness, the herbs and spices we use, enjoying the crisp coolness in the air and watching the colours change in the trees. Maybe it’s the woo in me, but you can just feel the magic in the air.
And as someone who lives for everyday adventures, I wanted to share with you 6 microadventures which will really help you embrace the season.
The best adventures to have in october…
Go Pumpkin Picking
I do love going pumpkin picking – I think it’s a really nice tradition that’s started here in the UK over the last few years. But even if you don’t want to go to a pumpkin patch, go and get yourself some from the supermarket, and as well as getting crafty, find some fun pumpkin recipes
Go on a coffee shop tour (PSL edition)
If you too are a fan of pumpkin spice and all things nice, why not head on an independent coffee shop tour, and try out some of the pumpkin spiced lattes on offer
(I did this last year, but it was coffee vans on the walk around Derwentwater and it was a lot of fun)
Take Yourself on a colours walk
Go on a walk specifically to see the trees changing colour. There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing the leaves turn that golden red colour, and kicking them and hearing the crunch. It’s pure magic
Plan a halloween themed film night
For me, it’s always going to be a Twilight movie marathon (with Hocus Pocus on the side) or a tv marathon of Buffy or Sabrina…for you, it might be full on horror. But grab your pals, some themed food, and make it into a full experience.
Bonus points if you go to your local cinema and watch an autumnal/spooky film there
Go visit a local castle
if you’re looking for spooky vibes, a castle is always the way to go so whether you take a hike to an abandoned one, or visit a national trust site, this microadventure is sure to give you Traitors vibes!
Go on a ghost tour
One of my favourite things to do in October is go on a ghost tour and get just a little bit spooked. Not only are they a lot of fun, it’s also a great way to explore a new town or city, or even see your own hometown in a new light!
