How It Began
Postcards From is all about finding adventure, every day. Because life is too short to wait for the big adventures.
I started documenting my adventures after being diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis when I was 16. At 18, I had life-saving surgery and now live with a stoma bag. I want to show you can find adventures, whatever. Microadventures have brought me so much joy, even when my health has been in a bad way.
11 years later, and my life is all about finding adventures. Outside of writing this blog, my passions are photography, reading (and finding indie bookshops), eating delicious food, and going in search of the perfect decaf oat milk flat white!
Meet Katie May
I’m a writer + photographer based in The Lake District where I’ve lived nearly my whole life (apart from the 5 years I lived in Manchester and tried being a city girl!).
I have always loved documenting my travels, from writing travel diaries on the back of postcards as a child, to now where I’m never without my camera (a Fujifilm XT5) and I love nothing more than exploring somewhere through photography, food, and coffee!
In 2023, I tasked myself with having at least one microadventure per week, and it changed my life. Since then, I’ve been on a mission to inspire as many people as I can to find adventure wherever they are in the world as they’re the most accessible way to start adding some adventure into your life.
