I genuinely think one of the best activities you can do on holiday is a boat trip. Every time I’ve been on one, I’ve had the best time, and if you’re a water baby who loves to swim in the sea, then really it is a must. Whilst I was in Ayia Napa, I went on one of the Blue Lagoon cruises so wanted to share with you everything I can about taking this day excursion, and whether it’s worth booking.
What is the Blue Lagoon cruise from Ayia Napa?
The Blue Lagoon cruise is one of the most popular tours from Ayia Napa marina, which takes you along the coast of Ayia Napa, around the edge of the Cape Greko National Park and to two absolutely stunning coves for swimming.
You have the opportunity to swim and snorkel, with the chance of also seeing turtles and dolphins. Sadly on the day we went, we didn’t get to see them however regardless of the wildlife that is out, it’s still a brilliant day out.
There are a lot of boats that go from the Marina on this tour and I can imagine in the height of summer it could feel a little crowded. However, each boat has its own area to swim in and there were only two other boats whilst we were out, so it felt very spacious.
What’s included – route, stops and lunch
The route for the Blue Lagoon boat trip from Ayia Napa is along the Cape Greko national park to the sea caves, then the first stop is Konnos Bay where you have an hour to swim and snorkel. As you sail to your next swimming stop, the Blue Lagoon, you pass the iconic and beautiful Ayioi Anargiroi Church.
The second and final stop is the Blue Lagoon where the water is crystal clear blue and absolutely stunning.
It’s at this second stop that lunch is also served – we had chicken with couscous, potatoes and coleslaw and it was delicious. Included in our package was also two drinks vouchers, and all drinks were included in this (from soft drinks to cocktails to beers)
What to bring on the boat
You don’t need to bring much with you at all – water (you can buy on board as well), suncream, a towel, and a hat is your essentials – oh and your swimming costume of course!!
They accept card on board, but prefer cash so a mix may be useful.
If you’re wanting to capture your journey on camera, a GoPro or waterproof case for your phone is also a must!
How long does the blue lagoon cruise take?
Approximately 5 hours. We arrived at 9am to board the boat, and we arrived back around 2pm

Is the Blue Lagoon cruise worth it?
In one word, YES. Sometimes boat cruises can seem more on the expensive side for a day out, however I have never once regretted booking a boat tour. They’re always a lot of fun, a great way to just chill out and relax, and also a brilliant way to see more of the area you’re in.
We had a great commentary from one of the guys on board, who told us a lot about the area, the geography, and plenty of time to see picturesque spots. It really added to the journey and it was great to do this on our first day of the holiday, and we were given so many recommendations of places to explore!
