Here are 7 microadventures to have in July (heatwave edition)
It’s officially summertime which means we’re in peak adventure season. Longer and warmer days, and plenty of opportunities to be out and exploring. It can feel a little overwhelming of knowing where to start, or how to turn your summer vision board into reality, so here’s a list of 7 fun microadventures to go on this month, so you can live your own big adventure-ful life.
Dip your toe into wild swimming
It’s no secret that I love wild swimming, and July is the perfect time to start. It’s a perfect way to cool down on a hot day, so take your pals, or find a wild swimming group, and brave the water.
Make sure to follow water safety – take a float and enter slowly – it may be hot outside but many lakes and tarns are still cold.
Pack a picnic and go to a viewpoint
Pack your favourite snacks and picky bits, choose a nice view point, and enjoy your picnic. There’s nothing better than a picnic on a summers day, and it really is the perfect micrgadventue to have.
A reminder though that you don’t need your picnic to look aesthetic. Don’t get me wrong, I love it when I’ve got my cute cooler and picnic blanket, and everything looks together. But there’s just as much joy when I’ve got my sandwiches in tinfoil, sat on my fleece and enjoying the view.
Go on a sunset walk
The days are longer and hotter, so there’s nothing more refreshing than a sunset walk after work. You don’t have to go too far either, just enjoy views and the golden hour light because there really isn’t anything quote like it!
Try to an outdoor yoga class
One of my personal favourites on this months list is trying an outdoor yoga class. My usual yoga classes have moved outside this month and there’s nothing more calming than the sound of nature going on around you as you centre yourself, stretch and slow down. Every year it always amazes me just how gorgeous it is!
Find a woodland Walk to go on (and escape the heat)
If you’re in need of a walk with ample shade, then heading on some woodland walks might be the best option. One of my favourite places to walk in the UK when it’s hot is the Galloway Forest up in the Scottish Borders – it’s the perfect place to wander on a hot summers day!
Go Paddleboarding
Whether you take your own paddle board, or hire one, a perfect way to spend few hours on the lake or by the sea is explore on your Paddleboard. What I love about this is, whilst the days are so long, it’s a great after work adventure – bonus points for bringing a picnic with you!
Again, remember your water safety and wear a life jacket and make sure you keep your paddleboard attached to you as well.
Go on an Ice cream Tour
An ice cream is the perfect way to cool down on a hot day, so why not turn it into a bit of an ice cream tour around your local area, and try a few different flavours from different ice cream shops!
