FORCE Cafe : best place for lunch in Ambleside, The Lake District
The Lake District is a foodie’s paradise; whether it’s Michelin-star restaurants, cosy cafes or incredible pub lunches, there’s something for everyone. With incredible local produce and incredible views, there are some amazing cafes here in the lakes. But if you’re looking for the best place to go for lunch in Ambleside, then FORCE Cafe is for you.
You’ll find the cafe just above the main town, about a two-minute walk from Stock Ghyll Force waterfall. With incredible views over Windermere and the lakes, enjoy a relaxing meal at this stunning cafe.
The best brunch in Ambleside
There is a fantastic selection of food on offer at FORCE, including a stand-out brunch menu.
The brunch menu is served until 12pm, however, their lunch menu also has some cracking brunch-style options as well.
Brunch includes full English (and veggie/vegan options), fluffy American pancakes, avo on toast and eggs benny.
I had the incredible Rosti Eggs Benedict; a crispy potato rosti, perfectly poached eggs, a creamy hollandaise sauce, meaty mushrooms, truffle and spinach. It was incredible. I often find hollandaise sauce a bit too acidic, but this was perfectly balanced and delicious. This is a perfect brunch, and I can’t recommend it enough. I’m excited to go back and try more of the menu because this did not disappoint.
How good is the coffee at FORCE Cafe, Ambleside
Your gal loves an iced coffee, and seeing as the sun was out, I had to have an iced coffee.
FORCE Cafe use Carvetii Coffee, a local coffee roaster, and it is strong and full of flavour.
They have a cracking decaf option, and have milk alternatives like oat as well, and if you like coffee, you’re gonna love it at FORCE.
Overall thoughts on FORCE Cafe, Ambleside
My overall thoughts of FORCE Cafe is that it is brilliant. If you’re looking for a good cafe/restaurant with breathtaking views, good food and good drinks, then this is for you.
As well as coffee and tea, they also have locally brewed beers and ales. During the summer, they’re also open on Friday and Saturday evenings (booking essential!), and they do some one-off evening events as well, which is worth keeping an eye out for.
FORCE Cafe is up there with some of my favourite Lake District cafes and I can’t wait to head back!
