Here are 7 perfect microadventures to have this April
Looking for microadventures to try this April in the UK? We’re officially in British Summer Time and with longer days, blooming landscapes and warmer weather, spring is the perfect time to get outside.
Here’s a curated list of microadventure ideas that are perfect for you to make the most of the month, and have it jam packed with fun adventures.
The easiest Spring Microadventure – go in search of the bluebells
Bluebell season is officially upon us!
Visit a National Trust site or local woodland to see carpets of bluebells in bloom. There truly isn’t anything as magical as seeing the flurry of bluebells.
If you’re looking for the best places to see Bluebells in The Lake District, head to Acorn Bank, Rannerdale (Buttermere) or Low Wood (Wasdale).
try a cold dip and sauna
Ready to feel refreshed? Give a cold dip and sauna a go!
Saunas are popping up next to lakes and costal areas everywhere, and there’s good reason. There are some real health benefits to cold dips and saunas, and it’s exciting that they’re becoming so much more accessible
I tried this for the first time last weekend in North Yorkshire and I am obsessed. It’s taken my cold water swimming to a new level!
Have an Outdoor Film Night this Spring
This is a great one to do with the whole family or a group of your mates!
Set up a mini cinema with a projector, blankets, and a delish drink to enjoy an evening outdoors.
Alternatively, find an outdoor cinema near you. During Spring and Summer, these seem to pop up a lot more in stately homes, castles and parks. Keep an eye out for local events near you
Visit a Lambing Farm
Wanting to get into the spring spirit?
Why not go and see some lambs. Whether you take yourself on a spring walk to see lambs from afar, or head to an open farm where they hold events to see the lambs
(who knows, you might even get to see them being born!)
head on a blossom bike ride
Longer days can be perfect for a bike ride!
Why not go in search of some blossom at the same time?
Find a scenic cycle route where trees are in bloom. Why not stop for a coffee in a countryside café on your trip!
Go on a Canal boat day trip in the UK
Hire a canal boat for a day and explore the tranquil waterways of the UK. Navigate through historic locks, pass quaint villages, and enjoy a leisurely picnic on the deck. The canals offer a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, allowing you to unwind and appreciate the beauty of the British countryside.
Watch the sun set with a springtime treat
As the days get longer, the thought of getting up for a sunrise walk isn’t always appealing.
Why not head on a sunset walk, and bring with you a flask of tea and enjoy some freshly baked hot cross buns as you soak in the evening light.
