I visited Marrakesh for the first time in February 2026, as part of a Happy Freelancers trip, and it was such a brilliant 5 days. Happy Freelancers run Work & Play Vacays, partnering with Outsite, where the premise is a group of freelancers travel together, embrace the freedom that this life gives us, and still be able to work whilst we’re there. As a travel creator who also freelances, this seemed like the perfect opportunity to go visit a place I’ve always wanted to as well as connect with other business owners, and try a different way of travel.
What camera did I travel with to Morocco
On this trip, I took my 11 year old Olympus Pen EPL-7 with my beloved 17mm lens. I don’t use this camera often, but it’s so lightweight and discreet, it seemed like the perfect option. I’ve gotten used to using a zoom lens, so it definitely took some time to get used to a fixed lens. I love the focal length of the 17mm, and it always gives some interesting shots! It always feels like a good one to travel with as it’s pretty versatile, as well as being lightweight and small enough to fit into my Uniqlo bag.
