no plans for the weekend? here’s exactly how you’r no plans for the weekend? here’s exactly how you’re going to add some adventure to the next two days…

☕️ take your morning coffee outside or in a flask and on your morning walk

🏃‍♀️ why not give @parkrunuk a go (and if you’re already an avid park runner, why not head to a different one this weekend!)

🌊 check out and see if there’s a local sauna and cold plunge - these are popping up everywhere right now and the perfect way to relax (grab your friends and catch up at the same time!)

🥾 pop on your walking boots and head on a walk you’ve never done before. Live in the city and away from the countryside? You’d be surprised how easy it is to get somewhere for a hike by train. Spend 30 mins tonight and see where you can get to in an hour on the train!

🌲 take yourself to a green space…maybe read your book, or gather your people and have a picnic

📝 spend an hour thinking about how you want your summer to feel. What adventures to you want to go on? How can you make them happen? Who are you going with? Are there solo adventures you want to go on?

So how are YOU spending your weekend?
Have you taken a ride on England’s most scenic rai Have you taken a ride on England’s most scenic railway line?

This year, the Settle-Carlisle Railway celebrates 150 years of passenger services on the line, and is renowned for its incredible scenery of the Eden Valley and the Yorkshire Dales

Now, I am biased because I work as a community rail officer for the line, but it is a stunning route and after travelling on the line for nearly 30 years (I was a few weeks old when I first travelled on it!), it never gets old!

And seeing as it was the formal anniversary last Friday, this weeks adventure as part of my #abigadventurefulyear just HAD to be a journey on the line!

If you want to do the journey here’s some things to help you;
~ there’s a regular service 7 days a week on the line run by @northernrailway
~ you’ll go through England’s highest mainline station, Dent
~ the line starts and ends in Carlisle and Leeds
~ if you’re travelling from Carlisle and want to see the Ribblehead Viaduct whilst you’re on the train, sit facing backwards on the right hand side of the train. Sit facing forward if you’re travelling from Leeds
~ make sure to grab a coffee and a sweet treat from the onboard trolley service!!

sign me up!

with a fibro flare, I was looking for a chilled out microadventure this weekend and this nailed the brief! There’s nothing more magical than being surrounded by the sweet smelling bluebells as they leave a purple carpet in the woodlands!

Have you found the bluebells yet?
Hands up whose ready to go on some adventures this Hands up whose ready to go on some adventures this month 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️

If you’re wanting to start living a big adventure-ful life, but no clue how to NOW is the time to start

Maybe you have your breakfast outside, head to a museum on your lunch break, or a hike to watch the sun set.

There’s so many ways to start adding adventures to your life and at the start of every month I share 6 ways you can have an adventure every month (as well as all things outsidey, adventure, travel and food every day!!) so make sure to follow along!

So, how are YOU adventuring this month?
it’s only taken 30 years of living right next to t it’s only taken 30 years of living right next to the Lake District to walk a Wainwright BUT I FINALLY DID IT ⛰️🥳✨

Did I make it harder for us by going up Swineside Knott as well? Absolutely. Did that make me want to give up? Yes, yes it did. BUT we did it, had some epic views with our snacks, and had a huge sense of achievement at the end

And I think my back and hips have just about recovered! My #abigadventurefulyear challenge was all about getting out and doing the thing and I’m so pleased to finally tick this off

And whilst I have zero desire to tick off all 214 wainwrights, I might have a few more in me for sure

this one’s for anyone going through a period of il this one’s for anyone going through a period of ill health right now, but still craving a sense of adventure 🌱✨🌲

when you live with chronic illnesses, or have patches of illness and recovery, it can feel like a slog of feeling rubbish, dealing with medications and appointments, and it feels never ending

and sometimes it takes all your energy just to sit up in bed, and that’s sometimes the biggest achievement of the day (and deserves to be celebrated!!)

But sometimes you have that itch - the need for a reminder that there’s more to life than this, and that it isn’t always going to feel like this

so here are some micro microadventures to help you find your spark ✨
