Table of Contents
So you’ve booked your dream trip to Paris, and wondering how to make the most of your time in this incredible city. I have loved every visit I’ve had to Paris, there’s such magic in the air, and it really does feel like you’re living in a film. Because it’s such a vibrant city, it’s hard to pin down the top 10 things to do in Paris, but these are my personal favourites (and some things that are on my own list for next time I visit!)
Here are the top 10 things to do in Paris
The ICONIC tourist attractions in Paris you need to do
Paris is packed with heavy-hitters, and honestly? They’re iconic for a reason. From world-famous museums to grand monuments, ticking off the big ones is part of the Paris experience, and somehow, they never feel overdone. Don’t let anyone tell you not to visit the touristy places – you can’t go to Pais and not visit these places!
Eiffel Tower
No matter how many photos you’ve seen, nothing prepares you for seeing the Eiffel Tower in real life. Sparkling every hour after sunset, she’s pure Parisian magic. There’s a reason this is number one on the top 10 things to do in Paris, and it’s because it really is incredible, and you do feel like you’re in a film.
Go early to beat the queues, and why not take a picnic with you to enjoy underneath after your tour!

Louvre
An actual treasure trove, the Louvre is home to the Mona Lisa and thousands of other works of art. Even if you’re not usually a museum person, this place is special. The building itself is part of the wonder and wandering through feels like a dream.
It’s free entry for under 18’s, and free for 18-25 year olds who have an EU passport! Get your tickets here
Palace of Versailles
Grand, gilded and totally over the top in the best way, Versailles is a day trip worth doing. Explore the dazzling Hall of Mirrors, get lost in the endless gardens, and pretend you’re royalty for a few hours. It’s safe to say you’re going to get some good pictures for the gram here as well.
Make sure to book your tickets in advance!
Notre Dame
She’s back open, and remains one of the most breathtaking sights in the city. Walk around the cathedral, take in the gothic details, and enjoy the buzz of the square outside
Musee D’Orsay
Set inside a former train station, this museum is a light-filled wonderland of Impressionist art. Expect Monet, Degas, Van Gogh. Plus that iconic giant clock window that’s a photo op in itself!
Arc De Triomphe
Standing proudly at the top of the Champs-Élysées, the Arc de Triomphe is all grandeur and history. Climb to the top for one of the best views in Paris, which is especially magical at golden hour.
Take a trip to Disneyland Paris
Disneyland Paris really is the most magical place on earth, and it’s so easy to do a day trip to Disneyland Paris from Paris! It’s just a 35 minute train journey on the ER A regional train to Marne-la-Vallée Chessy and you’re just a 5 minute walk to Main Street USA!
I adore Disneyland Paris – it’s my favourite place in the world and it’s such a good day trip from Paris. Wanting to know how to make the most of your trip? Check out the DLP Guides that we have. And you can find out more about visiting Disneyland Paris and Paris over at
Monets Garden
A short train ride to Giverny takes you straight into one of Monet’s paintings. Wander the lily pond, cross the little Japanese bridge, and see the house where he lived and worked. It’s peaceful, colourful, and well worth the detour. I have such a vivid memory of visiting here as a kid, and it’s a really inspiring place to visit.
Try the viral hot chocolate
Thick, rich, and basically dessert in a cup – the legendary hot chocolate at Angelina lives up to the hype. Even in summer, it’s a must-try. I have it under great authority from multiple friends that this is worth it (although don’t bother with the food as it’s expensive and just okay – there’s lots of great places to try in the city)
Boat trip on the Seine
Cruising along the Seine is hands-down one of the best ways to see Paris. Glide past Notre Dame, under beautiful bridges, and wave to people picnicking on the riverbanks. It’s peaceful, scenic and a perfect way to see the iconic sights without the hustle and bustle.

Book sellers along the Seine
The green boxes lining the Seine are full of second-hand books, vintage posters and old postcards. Spend time browsing and chatting to the sellers. It’s one of those small, special Paris experiences that feels like stepping into a storybook.
And go to Shakespeare & Company Bookshop
A Parisian institution. This cosy English-language bookshop is full of charm, stacked shelves, and literary history. If you love books like me, it’s hevan and don’t forget to get your purchase stamped before you leave!
Go on a food tour of Paris
From buttery croissants to smelly-but-delicious cheese, Paris is a foodie playground. A guided food tour is a fab way to sample the best bites and learn about French culinary culture (without having to make all the decisions yourself)

Take a trip to the Moulin Rouge
Ready for a night of sequins and sparkle? The Moulin Rouge is iconic for a reason. Expect dazzling costumes, champagne, and a high-energy show that’s a true Paris experience!
Head to Marché des Enfants Rouges
Tucked away in the Marais, this covered market is a local gem. Think sizzling food stalls, colourful produce, and a proper mix of cuisines – from Moroccan to Japanese. It’s great for lunch and perfect for people-watching.
Go to the Monmarte Photobooth
Hidden on a side street in Montmartre, this vintage black-and-white photobooth is a little slice of nostalgia. Grab a friend (or go solo!), strike a pose, and leave with the cutest souvenir. It’s a total vibe.
